Poems and Songs: Always the Same Reflection
I see my reflection, looking from the mirror
It never changes
I wonder why
Its always the same face
Always the same eyes
Looking back at me
I see Though my reflection doesn’t change
My reflection never grows, it never fades
Away
Will I?
Fade away
Give in to her
everyone else grows, in leaps and bounds
from day to day
if it’s a war, she’s winning
if it’s a game
We have much more at stake than simple money
My reflection never fades
It stays always the same
shall I give in?
There seems no point in fighting
it’s just a game
That I’m not winning I never know
What day it is
Never know
I cannot tell by looking in the mirror
If the reflection will never change
Slowly, reluctantly
I take another step
down the stairs
she’s waiting
once more I will fade
shall I give in?
And let her stay
for just a moment?
Another moment
My reflection never fades, never grows, never changes
And as I take another step, I know:
It never will
It never changes
I wonder why
Its always the same face
Always the same eyes
Looking back at me
I see Though my reflection doesn’t change
My reflection never grows, it never fades
Away
Will I?
Fade away
Give in to her
everyone else grows, in leaps and bounds
from day to day
if it’s a war, she’s winning
if it’s a game
We have much more at stake than simple money
My reflection never fades
It stays always the same
shall I give in?
There seems no point in fighting
it’s just a game
That I’m not winning I never know
What day it is
Never know
I cannot tell by looking in the mirror
If the reflection will never change
Slowly, reluctantly
I take another step
down the stairs
she’s waiting
once more I will fade
shall I give in?
And let her stay
for just a moment?
Another moment
My reflection never fades, never grows, never changes
And as I take another step, I know:
It never will
